SANTA BARBARA – The SBCC baseball team was shut out for just the second time this season on Tuesday, falling to LA Pierce 2-0 at home in the first of three games this week against the Brahmas.

The Vaqueros were held to just three hits and were unable to capitalize on any of LA Pierce's three errors. The Brahmas managed just four hits themselves.

It was a strong defensive start for SBCC, as Charlie Adamson came out firing with three straight strikeouts to start the game. The visitors scored in the top of the third with a run from Victor Pico. The center fielder led off with a walk and later scored on a ground out RBI by Brent Swearingen.

The Brahmas scored once more in the top of the sixth. Esteban Perez singled before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Mitch Kurtz.

SBCC had its best chance to tie things up in the bottom of the sixth. Despite getting outs on their first two batters, the Vaqueros got some momentum as Carson Cahoy singled to third, advanced to second on a throwing error, and stole third.

Mark Hernandez walked on the next at bat, but Caiden Matheny struck out swinging to leave two runners on base. SBCC was held without a hit the rest of the way.
