Baseball Tops Oxnard at Home with Eighth Inning Rally

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College used a three-run showing to top Oxnard College, 10-7, in the final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (19-18, 9-12 WSC) got behind early after surrendering six runs through the first two frames before Jacob Ruley drove in a pair of runners with a triple to right-center in the bottom of the second. The home squad cut the deficit to one in the fourth after Zach Martinez used a single through the right side to collect two RBIs and Kalub Ramirez scored on a wild pitch. The Condors (10-26, 5-16 WSC) managed to plate one in the sixth, but Parker Haskell forced a tie in the bottom of the frame after capitalizing on an OC error. Hancock put the game away in the final frame with a three-run rally, sparked by a bases-loaded walk that put the team ahead. Jacob Steels added to the cushion with an RBI single, while Martinez scored the final run after another wild pitch.

Ruley led the Bulldogs at the plate with a 2-for-2 showing that included two triples, two RBIs, and one run while being walked twice. Martinez also had a day after totaling four RBIs and one run on one hit.

Anthony Lopez collected his third win on the bump after entering in the third frame. He struck out nine batters and allowed one earned run while scattering two hits through six innings of work. Luke Kovach entered as the closer in the ninth and secured his fifth save of the year after punching out three opponents and walking one. Kaden Bean and Vance Serrano also made brief appearances, each tossing one inning, but did not factor into the final decision.

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Tuesday, April 26th, on the road at Santa Barbara City College.
