Rosas Earns Fourth Career No-Hitter as Dons win 8-0 on Opening Day

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Sophomore pitcher Emily Rosas struck out 10 while throwing her fourth career no-hitter to lead the Santa Ana College Softball team to an 8-0 win over Mt. San Jacinto College in the 2022 season opener.

The Dons looked sharp defensively, making a few tough plays to support Rosas throughout the day. At the plate, the Dons produced just one run until exploding in the sixth inning.

Following a couple singles from Alexis Rangel and Rosas, Sarah Casey knocked in the first run of the inning with an RBI single through the left side.

The next couple runs came in from a single by Sonya Carnal and an Eagle error to make it a 4-0 game.

With the bases loaded, Airilin Ramirez muscled a pitch over the center fielders head to break things open with a 2 RBI double, which forced a pitching change. But Dons continued to add on and eventually scored two more on walks from Rosas and Jojo Westerfield to secure the 8-0 mercy rule shutout.

The Dons will welcome College of the Desert for their next game on Saturday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m.
