SANTA BARBARA – The SBCC women's volleyball team is set to host the first round of the CCCAA Southern Regional Playoffs this Tuesday at the Sports Pavilion, when it will take the No. 5 seed into a rematch against No. 12 Golden West at 6:00 p.m.

Livestream ($7.95 to watch) | Ticket / Attendance Info Below

This will be Santa Barbara's first postseason competition under head coach Kat Niksto and the first for the team since 2017. In her second full season at the helm, Niksto led the Vaqueros to a 22-4 overall record, their best mark since 2016.

A balanced offensive attack has seen five different Vaqueros go over 100 kills for the year, led by outside hitter/opposite Bella Johnson's 170 kills. Opposite Caroline McCarty is second on the team with 167.

Middles Karoline Ruiz and Paige Rudi are the team's leading scorers overall, anchoring a Vaquero net defense that ranks first in the Western State Conference in blocks (194).

Ruiz enters the postseason atop the Vaquero charts in points (229.5), blocks (67) and hitting percentage. Her extremely efficient hitting (.325) ranks fourth in the WSC. Rudi is second on the team in points (208), blocks (47) and kill percentage (.290).

Libero Jacelin McKie sits fourth in the conference in digs (382). She has crossed the 20-dig mark on five different occasions this season, the most of any Vaquero since 2015 (Tristen Thompson).

SBCC has the second-most assists (963) of any WSC team, due in large part to the play of setter Emma Crabbe. The Carmel, CA native leads the Vaqueros with 716 assists and 11 double-doubles.

The Vaqueros have already faced Golden West once this season, earning a road sweep over the Rustlers 25-13, 25-17, 25-15 back on Oct. 20.
