COMETS SLIP AWAY

The Hornets took on Palomar College at home Saturday afternoon, and the Comets came back to win it 4-3.

In control throughout most of the game, Fullerton took a 3-2 lead into the eighth inning before it got away.

FC got on the board in the first inning posting a 2 runs. With the bases loaded, Garet Crenshaw grounded out to the pitcher but gave Isaiah Marquez the opportunity to cross home plate. Soon after, RJ Vanderhook came across on a wild pitch.

Palomar cut the lead in half in the top of the third on Tanner Lappin's ground-rule double that bounced high over the center field ivy plating Bryson Hashimoto.

In the fifth inning, the Hornets made it 3-1 when Miguel Ortiz ripped a hard-hit single up the middle of the field giving RJ Vanderhook the chance show off his wheels scoring from second base.

The Comets brought a run across in the seventh when Caden Szuba came up hammering a doubled to shallow center field that scored Ethan Ellis.

In the eighth, Palomar tied the game up 3-3 on Jack Sander's single to center that scored Devlin Lindeman.

In the top of nine, the Comets took over the game on Hashimoto's deep SAC Fly to right field allowing Joe Thrailkill to come home for the game's final run.

Up Next: Fullerton (6-3 overall) will resume play from Friday's game at home against Chaffey that was halted due to darkness on Tuesday, February 15th at 2:00 pm. After that game wraps up, the Panthers and Hornets will play the scheduled game.
