GRIFFINS DOUBLE THEIR WIN TOTAL

EL CAJON — The Grossmont College Griffins defeated the San Diego City College Knights by a 4-2 line in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference fixture on Tuesday, Sept. 27. 

The Griffins (2-4, 2-2 PCAC) got the scoring started early as Caitlyn Noland scored her first goal of the season off a free kick from 35 yards out. She took the free kick and directed the ball to the top left corner of the goal to get it past the keeper. 

Not but slightly more than two minutes later, Jessica Noble crossed the ball to Maliah Wirsig. Wirsig then deflected the ball into the net for her first tally of the season. 

In the 19th minute, Riana Kitchen scored for SD City (0-6, 0-4 PCAC) to narrow the score line to 2-1 in favor of the Griffins. 

That is how the first half ended. 

There were three more goals in the second half all scored in a five-minute span. 

In the 47th minute, the Griffins were awarded a goal after a Deziree Bulmahn shot was blocked by the City defense. An errant pass from the defender to the Keeper allowed the ball to get to the back of the net. 

Two minutes later, Ciara May Horn received a pass from Zandre Nichols and put the ball up on the top shelf. 

The final goal was in the 52nd minute, with Ariana DiMartino scored on a rebound from here initial shot. 

Grossmont is scheduled to face Southwestern next Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
