Citrus College took on two different foes Friday afternoon, but dropped both contests. The Fighting Owls lost 7-4 to Pasadena City College in the opener and then fell 11-5 to Santa Ana in the nightcap.

With the losses, Citrus drops to 1-10 on the year. The Lancers improve to 9-7, while the Dons move to 9-6.

Samantha Flores had a strong showing at the plate against the Lancers, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and another batted in. Alexis Cordero and Hailee Reinert each had two hits in the game, with Reinert scoring and batting in two others.

Down 6-0, Citrus had back-to-back two-run innings to pull within reach, 6-4. Flores led the bottom of the third off with a hard hit ball to shortstop. With one out, Reinert blasted a home run over the fence at right field to cut the score to 6-2.

The Owls held off the Lancers in the top of the fourth, even turning a double play to end the frame and give the home team some momentum heading to their chance at the plate.

An error put Melanie Barba on base and Arianna Villegas tripled to send her home. Flores then doubled to right center, allowing Barba to safely come home, 6-2.

PCC tacked on another run in the top of the fifth and held on for the 7-4 victory.

Despite Santa Ana conceding seven errors in the nightcap, the Dons came up big at the plate with 17 hits to win the game.

Reinert led the Owls with a 3-for-4 performance, batting in one run. Vanessa Gutierrez went 2-for-3, while Villegas also had a hit in the game.

The Owls are back in action next Thursday, heading to LA Mission for a 2:30 p.m. conference game.
