Bats Come Alive as SBVC Beats Victor Valley

At the dawn of the Inland Empire Athletic Conference schedule, the San Bernardino Valley College baseball team's bats went into hibernation.

They woke up Thursday.

SBVC pounded out 19 hits and got eight strikeouts over five innings from Diego Castillo as the Wolverines beat Victor Valley College 13-2 Thursday afternoon.

AFter falling behind 1-0 in the first, the Wolverines got on the board in the third. Nathan Campos-Jaramillo reached on an error to lead off the inning. Juan Ramirez followed with a single and Ignacio Zamora was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Melchor Flores singled home Jaramillo. Michael McQueen and Andrew Griffin followed with walks to force home a pair of runs and give the Wolverines a lead it would never give up.

The Wolverines got big days from Ramirez, who was 4-for-5 with two RBI, while Jaramillo was 2-for-5 - both hits were doubles - with three runs scored and four RBI. Cy Robertson was 3-for-5 with three runs scored. 

Meanwhile, Castillo was strong on the mound. He gave up two hits and one run over five innings, striking out eight Victor Valley batters.
