The Marauders struggled early, dropping all three doubles matches. No. 1 Sydney Bush and Naia Smithley lost 2-8, No. 2 Nicole Padilla and Julie Tejeda lost 8-0 and No. 3 Arianett Avina and Emily Lopez lost 8-2.
In singles play, the struggles continued. No. 1 Bush split the first two sets 3-6, 6-3 but lost in the third set tiebreak 10-4. No. 2 Padiall lost 0-6, 1-6, No. 3 Smithley lost 5-7, 2-6, and No. 4 Tejeda lost 1-6, 2-6. No. 5 Williams (0-6, 0-6) and No. 6 Avina (1-6, 5-7) also fell.
"We've got to find a way to maintain our focus for the whole match. We clearly have moments where we are focused and playing well, but we struggle to maintain that focus throughout the match," said Coach Webb.
The Marauders are now 4-4 overall, and 2-3 in Western State Conference play. Next for the Marauders is a road trip to Glendale College on Tuesday, February 21st, at 2:00 pm.
