The first weekend of the 2023 season did not go quite as planned for the 2023 version of the ARC Baseball team.  Game 1 on Friday was a struggle for the pitchers as the Beavers walked 14 batters and hit 2.  Sophomore RHP Connor Timmins (East Nicolaus) was uncharacteristically wild from the get-go as he allowed four runs in the top of the first on just two hits.  He made it through the second inning unscathed but could not get out of the third as the Vikings plated 5 more runs to go up big, early.  The Beavers did get their first home run of the season, a two-run shot off of the tennis court fence in left field by sophomore CF Dominic Ott (Woodcreek).  The Beavers added three runs in the 9th but the game was out of hand by that point and ARC lost 19-6.

Saturday was a completely different ballgame as the two teams met in Santa Clara at Mission College.  The Beavers got on the board in the top of the first as freshman 2B Rylon Druck (Roseville) led off the game with a walk, stole second and later scored on a ground ball by Ott.  West Valley scored in the bottom of the first off of sophomore RHP Myles Meyer (Placer, Sac State) who was a little wild but settled down after the first inning.  Meyer went 4 innings and allowed two runs on just one hit.  Both teams had just one hit through the first 7 innings, and ARC didn't get their second hit of the game until the top of the 9th after Druck led off the inning with a hit by pitch.  He stole second and scored to tie the game on Dominic Ott's line drive single to left.  Freshman RHP David Centeno (Roseville) was pitching dominating the Vikings until the 11th inning when he allowed a one out double down the left field line.  After striking out the next batter he gave up a hit to right center with two outs to score the run and give West Valley at 3-2 win.

The two teams meet up for the final game of the series on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Beaver Field.
