STOCKTON – The bye week for City College of San Francisco came at the perfect time.

Coming off a tough 14-10 loss at Sierra College on Oct. 1, the Rams were able to refocus and returned to the game field to put together an impressive 44-17 victory at San Joaquin Delta College in both teams' National Bay 6 League opener on Saturday.

Despite their two early-season losses, CCSF (4-2 overall) is 1-0 in league play and hopefully on its way back to a deep postseason run.

It was a dominant team effort at Delta. The offense totaled 443 yards in putting up a season-high 44 points while the defense allowed only 214 yards, including just 48 yards on the ground, and sacked Mustangs' quarterback Cruz Herrera six times.

Special teams also had a huge game as Trayvon Hall ran back a kickoff return 74 yards for a touchdown and David Pierro did the same with a 47-yard return for a TD.

Tyrei Washington came alive in the second half. He ran in a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter on his way to 128 yards on 19 carries. His one-yard TD run at the 3:26 mark in the third gave the Rams a commanding 28-3 lead.

Quarterback Aaron Rieskamp proved to be a dual threat and more than the Delta defense could handle. Playing in his third game of the season, Rieskamp threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns while running 18 times for 74 yards.

Rieskamp tossed both his TDs in the second quarter, hitting Brandon Newton with a 44-yard strike and connected with Ryan Daly for a 10-yarder.

Samuel Siaosi had a big game on defense, as he totaled 7 tackles and 2 sacks. Zone Wierenga also had a pair of sacks, part of six by the Rams.

CCSF returns to action next Saturday (Oct. 22) when the Rams host Laney College at 1 p.m.
