Irvine Valley's baseball team had its five-game win streak stopped on Thursday afternoon at the OC Great Park.
The Lasers ran into a tough-left handed pitcher and didn't help themselves with several miscues on the basepaths in a 3-1 loss to Chaffey.
Irvine Valley's record went to 10-4 overall, while Chaffey improved to 5-9 overall.
Chaffey lefty Thomas Cerecedes went eight scoreless innings for the win. He improved to 2-1 overall. Cerecedes gave up just six his and two walks and had three strikeouts.
IVC freshman right-hander Jeremy Wiegman took the loss to go to 2-1. He pitched well, giving up just one run on four hits and and one walk with five strikeouts in five innings.
Laser freshman Sammy Murphy threw the final four innings and allowed two runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
Freshman first baseman Deangelo Yepez in his first start of the year, picked up his first hit as a Laser and went 3 for 3 on the day at the plate.
Freshman catcher Connor Tallakson and sophomore center fielder Joey Lapolla each added two hits.
Chaffey scored a run in the top of the third inning to take the lead for good on a RBI single by Tyvon Moore.
Chaffey added a run in the top of the eighth and another in the top of the ninth for a 3-0 lead.
IVC scored its lone run in the bottom of the ninth on a RBI single by fresshman Casey Kudell.
The Lasers are back in action in a makeup game on Friday at Mt. San Jacinto at 2 p.m.
