Falcons are Big 8 co-champs after win over Delta

The FLC men's soccer team are the 2021 Big 8 Conference co-champions!  The Falcons claimed a share of the title (along with Cosumnes River) with a convincing 4-0 victory over Delta College on Friday afternoon at Falcon Stadium, the final regular season match on the schedule.  The Falcons jumped in front early with Andres Maldonado-Conejo scoring in just the 3rd minute of play.  They added another goal 25 minutes later when Kameron Kascht delivered a perfect pass to Freddie Allen for a 2-0 lead.  The Kascht-Allen connection would surface again early in the 2nd half for the Falcons' third goal and a commanding 3-0 lead.  It was also the third assist of the match for the sophomore Kascht.  The Falcons closed out the scoring on freshman Alejandro Flores' goal in the 78th minute.

For FLC head coach Justin Johnson, the title is his third in the last four seasons of play (no season in 2020).  The Falcons (13-2-5 overall, 7-1-2 in Big 8) will now prepare for the CCCAA state playoffs, which begin on Saturday.  They'll certainly host a first-round match but won't know their opponent until after Tuesday's seeding meeting.
