Dons Drop Two Against Fullerton in OEC Play

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana College Softball team hosted Fullerton College (6-0) for a doubleheader in a matchup of undefeated teams on Wednesday afternoon.

Although the Dons (4-2) battled, they dropped both games by scores of 10-5 and 6-0.

GAME 1

SAC fell behind early as the Hornets scored one in the first inning and added four more in the third.

Following a lead-off walk from Shelby Macias in the bottom of the fourth, the Dons got on the board as Emily Rosas lifted a fastball over the left center field fence for her first homerun of the season, making it a 5-2 game.

Later in the inning, Cecilia Sanchez added one more run with a solo shot to center which cut the lead to two runs.

The Dons shut out Fullerton in the fifth to keep the momentum heading to the bottom of the inning. A couple singles from Airilin Ramirez and Iyari Ramirez put the pressure on the Hornets pitching staff who then recorded a hit by pitch and couple walks to score two more runs which tied the game at 5-5 before retiring the side.

Fullerton responded well in the top of the sixth, returning the favor with a five run inning to push the lead to 10-5 and securing the first win of the series.

Shelby Macias got the start and went two and a third innings with two earned runs. Rosas came in for the three and two third innings, finishing with five earned runs and two strikeouts.

GAME 2

The Fullerton Hornets seemed to take that momentum into the second game as they scored first once again, capitalizing on an RBI double by Dee Ramirez and a SAC error to go up 2-0.

Santa Ana just could not get the bats going in this one, recording just three hits in the game while the Hornets posted eight for six runs and another win.

Emily Rosas pitched all seven innings, giving up five earned runs and striking out six.
