Pirates remain unbeaten with 5-0 win over Bobcats
HUNTINGTON BEACH -- It was the more of the same for the Orange Coast College beach volleyball team, who rolled to its seventh straight win with a 5-0 victory over visiting Saddleback on Friday at the Newland Courts.
There was LITTLE drama or suspense in this one as the Pirates (7-0) picked up five straight-set wins, outscoring the Bobcats 210-72 in points.
Wins went to the teams of Alanna Shields and Sophia Sola (21-8, 21-12), Brisa Zepata-Reaves/Rachel Blair (21-7, 21-13), Sara Enright/Summer Hanks (21-4, 21-6), Lexy Mendoza/Paige Cutwright (21-5, 21-6) and Rachel Street/Jadyn Pope (21-5, 21-6).
With the loss, Saddleback falls to 1-5 overall, 1-2 in the OEC.
It's been a dominating performance by the Pirates throughout the 2022 campaign, winning 33 of 35 matches faced this year.
Coast will return to action on Friday at the Newland Courts against Golden West (10 a.m.) and Cypress (12 p.m.).
