AVC Softball returned to their winning ways with a win over the LA Mission Eagles at home. They totaled 13 runs off of 11 hits and no errors in Tuesday's matchup.
The offense wasted little time as Savannah Cervantes reached on a fielder's choice to score Ariel Nieto in the 1st inning. Denise Carrillo kept it rolling in the 2nd inning with a solo shot over the center-field fence, her second home run in three games. Nieto then hit an RBI single to give AVC a 3-0 lead after two innings.
The Eagles got on the board with a run in the 3rd, but Antelope Valley responded in the bottom of the inning when Carrillo singled to score 2 runs, and Trinity Holman hit a 2-RBI homer. Holman currently leads the Marauders in HRs on the season with 4.
With a 6-point lead heading into the 4th inning, AVC continued the offensive attack. Amy Manzo hit an RBI double, scoring Hailey Johnson. Trinity Holman then recorded another 2-RBI with a base hit, bringing in Manzo and Cervantes. Trinity finished 2-for-2 with 4 RBI and 3 runs on the day. Alanna Hernandez then put the game out of reach with a 3-run bomb, her fist of the year.
Madison Reiser (starter) and Victoria Alcantar combined for 4 strikeouts in the circle with only 2 earned runs. Denise Carrillo finished 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, Ariel Nieto ended with an RBI and 2 hits, while Alcantar went 2-for2.
