With their bats on display Friday afternoon, the Cerritos College softball team outlasted visiting Riverside City College, 10-7. The Falcons (4-4), who have now won two games in a row, travel to Chaffey College next Tuesday for a 2:30 p.m. game.

Cerritos opened up a 3-1 lead after the first inning, but had to fend off the Tigers (4-7) each time they put runs on the board. At one point, the Falcons held a 6-1 lead, but Riverside City posted three runs in the top of the fourth inning. Cerritos had a response with three runs of their own, with sophomore third baseman Brooklyn Bedolla (Mayfair HS) driving in a pair with one out. Once again, Riverside City came back with three more runs, but the Falcons got one of those runs back in the bottom of the stanza to close out the scoring.

With a runner on base in the bottom of the first inning, freshman outfielder Jazmine Macias (La Mirada HS) doubled in a run and eventually scored on a Tigers error. Bedolla, who finished with three RBI on the day, singled home freshman outfielder Marley Manalo (Walnut HS), who reached on the error.

Sophomore Richere Leduc (California HS), drove in her first run of the season in the second inning when she doubled home sophomore outfielder Alyssa Capps (Downey HS), who led off with a walk. Leduc led the team with 42 RBI last season.

A pair of Riverside City errors in the fifth inning accounted for the Falcons final run of the game.

Sophomore second baseman Alyssa Sotelo (El Rancho HS), along with Macias, Bedolla and freshman catcher Jimena Velazquez (Fullerton HS) all collected three hits on the day.

Freshman pitcher Reanna Carranza (El Rancho HS), who came on in relief in the fourth inning, earned her first win of the season, while Leduc collected her second save of the year after pitching the final three innings.
