HOME OF THE AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS

Beavers Blanked Again at Butte

Beavers Blanked Again at Butte

For the second time in three days the American River College baseball teams bats were silent as they were shut out at Butte College.  The final on Saturday was 8-0.  Sophomore RHP Connor Timmins (East Nicolaus) pitched much better than his line would indicate.  Through the first three innings he held the Roadrunners, one of the top hitting teams in the state, hitless.  Butte led off the 4th inning with a single but Timmins picked the runner off.  But the next batter walked and on the first pitch to the cleanup hitter Butte took a 2-0 lead thanks to a home run to left center.  It is only the second home run allowed by ARC this season.  Butte broke the game open in the 5th by scoring a pair of runs thanks to a one out double.  But with one out and runners on first and second a ground ball was hit to freshman SS Darin Eales (Bear Creek) who mis-handled it and was only able to get one out.  The runner on second scored on the play, then a double and two singles later Butte was up 7-0.  The Beavers offense couldn't get going other than sophomore CF Dominic Ott (Woodcreek) who had a pair of doubles on the day to raise his total to a team leading 5 on the season.  The Beavers threatened in the first after Ott led off the game with a double but he was stranded at third.  The Beavers had runners at 2nd and 3rd with two outs in the 3rd inning but couldn't get the big hit there either.  They had runners at 1st and 2nd in the 5th with one out but again were shut down.  And Ott was stranded at third again in the 8th after another lead off double.

The Beavers will look to get back on the winning track next week against Solano College in their final three game series before conference play begins.
