MARAUDERS LOSE CLOSE BATTLE WITH VENTURA

AVC Softball lost 7-5 to the Ventura Pirates at home on Thursday. Ventura jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. The Marauders answered back in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Natasha Arroyo blasted a 2-RBI home run deep to left-center field. Arroyo finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. After two scoreless innings, Ventura's bats put up 4 runs in the 6th inning and another 2 runs in the 7th.
In the bottom of the 7th, Antelope Valley began to rally. Emily Centeno hit an RBI single to score Alanna Hernandez. Savannah Cervantes then pulled AVC within two with a 2-RBI single, scoring Centeno and Marissa Rodriguez. But the rally would stop there as the Marauders could not complete the comeback. Cervantes finished with a hit and 2 RBI. Cadence Crampton went 2-for-4, while Hernandez, Rodriguez, and Centeno each recorded a hit each.
Victoria Alcantar struck out six in five innings of work, and Emmeliz Sera struck out one after two innings in the circle.
The Marauders are now 4-4 and will face Bakersfield at home on Tuesday, February 14th, at 2:30 pm.
