MiraCosta College Men's Soccer team fall short in season opener.

MiraCosta College men's soccer team faced off against Mt. San Antonio in season opener. Although playing evenly in intensity and posesssion through the 78th minute, the Spartans fell short 5-1. The Spartans started off strong with #13, Ricardo Acosta, holding his back line strong and executing a goalsaving slide tackle in the 25th minute. In the 27th minute,  #6 for Mt. San Antonio scored in the 18 yard box.

As the game continued, the Spartans held most of the possession. In the 28th minute, #12 for Mt. San Antonio scored despite the Spartans best defensive effort. Ricardo Acosta set up George Silva, by finding him out wide and behind Mt. San Antonio's defense. George Silva then cleared the ball just wide of the goal. As of minute 31, the intestity and speed of play increased on both sides. Mt. San Antonio capatalized on a cross in the 44th minute of the first half.

After training 2-0 the Spartans scored in the 47th minute when  Leonardo Carrasco crossed the ball into the 18 yard box for George Silva to capitalize on. MiraCosta continued with momentum as they set up quite a few opportunies in the final 3rd. The defensive line remained strong with Acosta and David Garcia, leading the way.

In the end, MiraCosta dropped their season opening 5-1.  The Spartans will next be in action on Tuesday August 31, at Santa Monica College.
