Falcons take two from Feather River

Playing their final tuneup before opening Big 8 Conference play on Saturday, the FLC softball team swept a doubleheader from Feather River on Thursday afternoon at Falcon Diamond, winning 5-4 and 3-0.  In the opener, the Falcons struggled offensively for most of the game until a sixth inning rally.  Afetr giving up a pair of runs in both the 2nd and 3rd innings, the Falcons trailed 4-1 until the bottom of the sixth.  Capitalizing on a pair of walks to start the inning, they managed to tie the game with three runs before getting the walkoff win in the seventh.  Freshman Anjelica Blackmer picked up the win with 4+ innings of shutout relief.

Game two was a classic pitcher's duel with neither team scoring until the sixth inning.  The Falcons scored two runs on RBI singles by Jailene salciedo and Maddy Larsen, then added a third run on Haley Busby's sacrifice fly.  Salciedo then came on in relief of Kelsey Wurm (6 innings, 0 runs, 4 hits) and blanked the Eagles to earn the save.

With the wins, the Falcons improved to 13-1 in nonconference action.  They'll open Big 8 play with a doubleheader at Diablo Valley on Saturday.
