Men’s Volleyball Hosts San Diego Miramar in Opening Round of Playoffs

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College drew the No. 4 seed in the 2022 California Community College Athletic Association Men's Volleyball State Championship Playoffs, it was announced Thursday.

The Warriors will host No. 5 San Diego Miramar on Saturday night at the ECC Gym Complex. The Jets were the champions of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference with a 14-3 overall record and 9-0 mark in conference play.

Admission for Saturday night's match will be as follows:

$12 – General Admission
$8 – Students, Staff and Faculty with ID, Seniors 60 years of age or older, children 12 years and under.

Parking on the ECC campus is free.

The Warriors finished second in the Western State Athletic Conference with a 13-5 overall record and 10-2 mark in conference play. They lost their first and last conference match of the season against Moorpark and Long Beach respectfully while winning 10 straight matches in conference play in between.

Meanwhile, the Jets finished the regular season on a nine-match winning streak, sweeping past the competition in the PCAC. They lost just three sets in conference play. Their last loss came to Orange Coast College on March 4, a five-set thriller. The other two losses on the season came to Irvine Valley in five sets and a sweep against Long Beach in the first match of the season.

Long Beach drew the No. 1 overall seed in the playoffs with Orange Coast getting the No. 2 seed and Irvine Valley earning the No. 3 seed. At the bottom of the bracket, Santa Monica earned the No. 6 seed with Moorpark (No. 7) and San Diego Mesa (No. 8) rounding out the playoff field.

The CCCAA Men's Volleyball State Championships will be held at the ECC Gym Complex on April 21 and 23. The semifinals will take place on Thursday, April 21 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. while the state title match takes place Saturday, April 23 at 7 p.m.
