Softball Stumbles in 9-1 Loss at Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team fell in a 9-1 decision at Ventura College in a Western State Conference showdown on Tuesday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

The Pirates (13-4, 2-0 WSC) surged ahead early after posting seven runs through the first two frames. Both teams were scoreless in the third before Antoinette Terrones plated the lone run for the Bulldogs (11-7, 1-1 WSC) with an RBI single in the top of the fourth. Ventura closed the scoring after tacking on two additional tallies in the sixth. 

Terrones led the AHC squad at the plate with a 1-for-2 showing and one RBI. Madison Gamble registered one run and notched a double after a 1-for-3 performance, while Briana Munoz recorded one triple. 

Xchelle Glidewell was charged with the loss in the circle after two innings of work. She struck out three batters but surrendered six earned runs after scattering 10 hits. Munoz entered as the closer for 3.2 innings in which she punched out one batter while allowing one earned run on four hits. 

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Tuesday, March 22nd, with a home showing against Santa Barbara City College. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 PM on the AHC Softball Field.
