Chargers Remain Undefeated at Home with Victory over Santa Ana

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress Women's Volleyball team (19-2, 10-1 OEC) hosted Santa Ana College (6-13, 1-11 OEC) on Friday night. The Chargers defeated the Dons in four sets (25-17, 21-25, 25-15, 25-16).

Tainea Allen led the Chargers with 16 kills, 14 digs and two aces. Vanila Pulu-Suliafu was the assist leader with 38, adding 13 digs and three aces of her own. Alexis Flores and Alli Arriolla led the charge defensively, each with four block-assists.

Cypress started the first set off strong and a kill from Kaelie Tulette put the Chargers up 14-8. The Dons then went on a 7-2 run, bringing the score within one point. The Chargers finished the set with four straight points, 25-17. Santa Ana jumped out to an early lead in set two and Cypress would be unable to catch up, losing 21-25. Both teams traded points to start the third set, eventually tying it up at seven points a piece. Two massive kills from Rachel Gonzales and Alli Arriolla put the Chargers up 13-8, going on to win the set 25-15. The Chargers carried the offensive attack into the fourth set, scoring seven points in a row to go up 15-9. Great serving from Tainea Allen gave Cypress a double-digit lead and Santa Ana would be unable to respond. The Chargers won the set with a score of 25-16, defeating the Dons in four sets.

UP NEXT: The Chargers hit the road to face Santiago Canyon on November 3rd. The match will begin at 6PM as the Chargers look to close in on the OEC title.
