Tartars rally comes up short in a 5-2 lost to the LA Harbor College Seahawks

Compton CA - Tartars rally comes up short in a 5-2 lost to the LA Harbor College Seahawks 

LA Harbor College Seahawks were first on the scoring board in the first inning as they got two runs to start game. The Tartars freshman shortstop Sevon Battle (3-4) hit a base clearing double to center field, which closed the scoring margin to put the Tartars down 4-1. Relief right handed pitcher Vincent Piroozzi was able to keep the Seahwaks scoreless for three innings. Pirozzi would go on to allow only two hits out of the 14 batters he faced.

At the end of the seventh inning the Tartars still clinged on to tight score of 4-2. However the Falcons bats would get hot when they needed them most as they went on to score an additonnal runs in the final inning to give them a 5-2 lead. The Tartars forth a valiant effort has they played with heavy heart as they played without their head coach Shannon Williams for the game.

In honor of Athletic Trainer month. Athletic Trainer for Compton College David Martinez threw out the first pitch. We would like to thank David Martinez for his service for our student athletes here at Compton College.

 

UP NEXT: The Tartars will be on the road next on Thursday, March 17th, as they play LA Harbor College. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
