Women’s Tennis Earns Conference Opening Victory against Saddleback  

The Riverside City College women's tennis team entered Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play on Tuesday by hosting the Saddleback College Gauchos. After being up by one after doubles, the Tigers went on to dominate singles play leading to an easy 7-2 victory.

Riverside dropped their top doubles match, but the second and third squads brought them back into the driver's seat. Freshman duo Samantha Treat and Jillian Stark snagged an 8-2 win, backed by a mirroring 8-2 victory from freshman pairing Marvonna Vaxter and Susana Iniguez.

Sophomore Torrey Mateljan earned a victory at the number two position in straight sets (6-1, 6-1), while freshman Keeley Arendt followed in similar fashion (6-3, 6-1).

Stark and freshman Adrielle Fotchi relied on third-set clinchers. Stark started off strong with a 6-0 win, but fell in the second set 3-6. She capped her win with a 10-4. Fotchi bagged the final two sets in her match leading to a victory.
