The Santa Monica College Men's Volleyball team, started the second round of conference games last Friday, March 24, 2023.

The men finished the first round with 4 wins and 2 losses. They opened with a strong 3-0 sweep over Santa Barbara away and then lost to Long Beach at home. After Long Beach, the team hosted El Camino College, and after losing to the Warriors twice last year, the Corsairs wanted to turn it around this year and they have, beating El Camino 3-2. This match was followed by a match against Pierce College, and the Corsairs won that one 3-0.

After three home matches, the men went on the road to play Moorpark. The team struggled against the Raiders and lost 3 sets to 1. Following that match, the men traveled to Antelope Valley College, and came back with the sweep and the W, after losing in that same court last year, 3-2.

Last Friday the Corsairs hosted the Vaqueros from Santa Barbara and dominated the court from the first serve until the last point. The men opened super strong for a 7-1 lead and kept it throughout the set to win it 25-17. The second set was closer as Santa Barbara pushed on offense and managed to have a few stops on defense. SBCC was in a lead 18 to 16 when Head Coach Liran Zamir took a timeout to reset the men and they came back stronger to win the set 25-21. The third and last set was controlled by the Corsairs and they won it 25-19 to complete a second sweep over Santa barbara this year and a back-to-back season sweep in the last two years.
