Women’s Volleyball Win Streak Snapped by Mounties

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College and Mount San Antonio came into Wednesday night's match tied for second place in the South Coast Conference, but the Warriors could not top the Mounties, falling in three (22-25, 20-25, 20-25) at the ECC Gymnasium.

The Warriors (7-11, 5-3) had their four-match winning streak snapped and suffered their first sweep loss since Sept. 10 at Mt. SAC (12-4, 6-2). Brea Rutledge led the way for ECC with 12 kills while Leafa Juarez added eight kills.

Saki Yamamoto had 21 digs and two aces while Nofoali'I Selu dished out 16 assists in a losing effort.

For the Mounties, J.J. Quarrels led all players with 13 kills and Riley DeGroot had 12 kills with 10 digs.

The Warriors will wrap up the week Friday against L.A. Harbor on the road. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
