Cougars Complete Three-game Sweep of the Raiders, 9-2

Cuesta Baseball won its sixth straight Western State Conference contest, as the Cougars completed a three-game sweep over the visiting Moorpark Raiders, 9-2.   In some light drizzle, Moorpark scored first when the Cougars dropped a two-out pop-up that allowed the Raiders to take an early lead.  In the bottom of the inning, Cuesta bounced back with three runs on four hits and never trailed again.  Cuesta Starter Nico Martinez allowed only one more run before handing the game and a five-run lead to Reliever Josh Souza (pict) in the 6th inning.  Souza sent down a dozen straight Raiders to preserve Martinez's victory and earn the Save.  On offense, Third Baseman Zach Tallerman powered the Cougars by going 3-for-4, including a home run, while scoring three times and driving in a pair of runs.  Rightfielder Aidan Weinstein (pict) was one of three other Cuesta batsmen to enjoy a multi-hit game.  Weinstein went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, while scoring twice and driving in a run.  Cuesta is currently alone in first place in the Western State Conference standings with a 10-2 record against the loop, while also boating a 14-11 mark overall.

The Cuesta Nine shall enjoy an early Spring Break this week and resume their WSC schedule next week with three games against Oxnard.
