The West Valley softball team steamrolled Chabot 16-0 in five-inning no-hitter in Hayward Tuesday, thanks to a big day from sophomore centerfielder Maddie Grissom and near-perfect pitching. Grissom was a perfect 4-4, with a pair of doubles and her team-leading fourth home run of 2022.

Grissom doubled in two in the second inning, and keyed an eight-run Viking fourth with a solo HR and a two-run single. Jessie Taketa added a two-run single in the fourth to make it 12-0. Taketa finished the day 3-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

WVC starter Rhiannon Underhill was perfect through two innings, and reliever Shelby White, who earned the win, didn't allow a baserunner until giving up a walk in the bottom of the fifth inning. White fanned six Gladiators, including three to close out the game.

The Vikings (12-4, 3-0 Coast) travel to Ohlone (0-3, 0-0) Thursday for a Coast Conference battle. First pitch is 3:00pm.
