Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Long Beach on the Road

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College downed arch-rival Long Beach City 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-15) on the road in a South Coast Conference match on Friday night.

The Warriors (7-10, 5-2) recorded their fourth straight win and second straight sweep thanks to 12 kills from Brea Rutledge and seven from Ginia Goods. Saki Yamamoto had 15 digs and Leafa Juarez added 14 to anchor the defense.

Goods had her best offensive match of the season, attacking at a .636 clip with seven kills on just 11 swings with no errors. Nofoali'I Selu dished out 17 assists to lead the Warriors.

With the win, the Warriors have now won five of their last seven matches after starting the year losing eight of their first 10 matches. More importantly, the Warriors moved to 5-2 in conference play, putting them in a tie for second place in the South Coast Conference with Mount San Antonio.

Both teams trail first-place Pasadena, which has remained undefeated through the first seven matches of conference play.

The Warriors will host Mt. SAC on Wednesday night in a clash for sole possession of second place. First serve at the ECC Gymnasium is set for 6 p.m.
