Citrus College picked up its second win in a row, sweeping Cuesta College in three sets (25-20, 25-14, 25-17).

The Owls improve to 4-7 on the year while the Cougars drop to 3-6.

Kalin Greene led the Owls with eight kills on a solid .389 clip. Miah Soriano followed with seven kills with a .375 attack percentage, while Caren Stone and Gabriella Aguilar each finished with five kills. Vanessa Marquez dished out 22 assists, while Stone chipped in 10 digs and Alexis Aguayo added seven.

After battling to win the first set, Citrus came out swinging in the second and boasted a .400 attack percentage as a team.

The Owls went on a 9-1 run to force a Cuesta timeout, but it was hard to stop Citrus as a kill from Aguilar put the Owls at set point and a Cougar error delivered it to put the home team up 2-0 in the match.

Cuesta tried to limit Citrus' runs in the third, but the Owls broke through with an 8-0 run to jump in front 8-1. Aguilar served up one of her four aces in the run, before a combo block from Greene and Marquez capped the run.

Mychaela Ortiz served an ace to put Citrus within match point, 24-16, before Cuesta managed to take the next point. However, a service error from the Cougars handed Citrus the victory.

The Owls head to Santa Barbara on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. match.
