Freshman Leslie Murillo scored two goals and added an assist to help lead the No. 9 state-ranked City College of San Francisco women's soccer team to its sixth straight win, a 5-1 victory at Santa Rosa Junior College on Friday.
The Rams are 6-0 to open the season with just one game left before they begin Coast Conference play.
CCSF actually trailed early in Friday's contest, the first time all season. Santa Rosa blitzed the Rams on the opening kickoff to score in the first minute of play to take a 1-0 lead.
But the Rams regrouped to tie up the game in the ninth minute. Gabriella Rodil scored her fourth goal of the season off the assist from Alexandra Arouxet Jara for the equalizer. 10 minutes later, Murillo put in her first goal of the contest thanks to the assist from Evalina Dudum and CCSF took the lead for good.
Dudum and Murillo connected again in the 40th minute, this time it was Dudum with the finish and the Rams took a 3-1 advantage into halftime.
CCSF closed out the contest with two goals in the second half, Murillo took the pass from Iliana Sanchez to score in the 75th minute and Sanchez nailed a penalty kick goal in the 79th for her sixth goal of the season.
Murillo's pair of goals gave her nine on the season as well as the team lead. The freshman has scored six times over her last three games.
CCSF head coach Jeff Wilson was pleased by his squad effort today.
"I am very proud of the character we showed today," Wilson said. "We went down 1-0 in the first 45 seconds but showed our resilence and determination with five unanswered goals to close the game against a talented Santa Rosa team. Right now, we are so focused and it's really paying off in all aspects of our game."
The Rams face their final non-conference challenge on Tuesday (Sept. 26) when they travel to Sierra College for a 4 p.m. game. CCSF follows that with its Coast Conference opener on Oct. 1 at No. 3 state-ranked Las Positas College.
