Falcons Extend Winning Streak to 11

Sacramento, CA – The Falcons (13-1, 1-0 Big-8) headed in to Big-8 Conference play as they hit the road for the opening game of a three-game series against Sacramento City College (7-8, 0-1 Big-8) on Tuesday night. FLC's current ten-game winning streak was extended to 11 as the Falcons defeated the Panthers 13-3.

After giving up two early runs and being unable to find the scoring column for first four innings, the Falcons were able to get a rally going in the fifth inning and went on to score 13 runs in the next three innings. The game winning run came in the top of the fifth inning when freshmen catcher, Nate Vargas, singled to right field, bringing in two runs, and putting the Falcons up, 5-2. The Panthers were able to add a run in their half of the fifth, but freshmen reliever, Riley Houghtby, was able to put the game away and did not allow another Panther to cross the plate. Haughtby earned the win for the Falcons after pitching 5 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 8 out of the 20 batters he faced.

The Falcons continue their three-game set against the Panthers on Thursday in Folsom at 2:00 pm.
