San Diego Miramar slips past No. 6 Vaqueros, 3-1

San Diego Miramar edged SBCC by two points in sets three and four on Friday afternoon to spoil the Vaqueros' season opener 3-1 in San Diego. The scores were 25-19, 19-25, 25-23, 26-24.

Sophomore Calvin Sanborn led the Vaqueros with 13 kills and four blocks. Trent Lingruen added nine kills and nine digs while middle blocker Zac Pittard had three kills and seven blocks.

The Vaqueros, ranked No. 6 in the state preseason power rankings, hit .500 in the second set when Sanborn had four kills and Keoni Thiim had three. SBCC hit .175 for the match.

The Vaqueros will play five of their first seven on the road. They'll travel to No. 3 Santiago Canyon on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
