The Cerritos College women's basketball team concluded their season riding a two-game winning streak, as they posted a 62-43 win over Los Angeles Southwest College on Friday. The Falcons (11-17, 4-6) used a strong second half to pull away from the Cougars (9-18, 2-8). The season record will keep the Falcons out of the post-season for the first time in three seasons.

In the second half, Cerritos outscored LA Southwest, 35-22, with 22 of those points coming in the third quarter. The Falcon defense limited their opponents to single-digit scoring in two of the four quarters.

Leading the way for Cerritos was freshman guard Jordan Lewis (Downey HS), who recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, as the team had three players score in double figures. Freshman Nicole Lizarraga (Cantwell Sacred Heart HS) converted 8-of-15 shots on her way to a team-high 16 points and also added seven rebounds and four steals, with freshman Precious Yerena (Downey HS) adding 12 points.

Freshman Melanie Lopez (Legacy HS) drained a trio of three-pointers to give her nine points off the bench, with freshman Therese Zekajj (Legacy HS) pulling down nine board and contributing five points off the bench. Sophomore point guard Mariah Lora (Warren HS) dished out six assists to go with her five points.
