PANTHERS REMAIN UNDEFEATED WITH MT SAN JACINTO SWEEP
Fans were on edge Saturday with tensions high as two of the top teams in the Inland Empire Conference battled for the edge in the 2023 conference race.
In the second inning, Michael Woodward stepped up to the plate and hit a homerun to put the Panthers on the board with a 1-0 lead. The Eagles, who have given up the last two games against Chaffey, answered back - holding the Panthers to Woodwawrd's solo and scoring and additional two by the end of the 7th inning.
Never to be counted out, Chaffey's Cole Porter knocked a two RBI single to tie the game 3-3. A sacrafice fly to centerfield minutes later brought in Porter to give the Panthers the advantage, and ultimately the win.
This win was undoubtedly a crucial one for the team. Not only did they clinch the victory, but they also completed a three-game sweep against Mt San Jacinto to snag the top spot in the IEAC. Despite a rocky start to the season, the team had remained undefeated during the critcal conference weeks, a testament to their great skill and tenacity on the field.
James Rivera started on the mound for Chaffey, pitching the first 7 and snagging his third season win. Nathaniel Garcia earned his 2nd save.
The entire team deserves credit for their impressive display of skill and determination. The Panthers begin a three-game series with College of the Desert on the road Tuesday.
