Pirates remain perfect with 9-0 win over Imperial Valley

COSTA MESA -- It was a solid day of tennis for Orange Coast College as the Pirate women's team matched the men's success with a 9-0 nonconference win over visiting Imperial Valley on Friday at the OCC Tennis Complex.

The Pirates improved to 6-0 with the win and have won 47 of 54 sets played thus far for the 2023 season.

All six singles matches ended with straight-set victories by the Pirates, including Camila Nelson (6-0, 6-2), Leanne Pascua (7-5, 6-2), Allison Dobrea (6-1, 6-1) and Maria Hernandez (6-0, 6-0). Logan Koitka and Madeleine Veltri won their matches by default.

The fun continued in doubles play for Coast, with wins coming from the teams of Sedona Smith/Olivia Sipiora (8-0), Diane Vu/Rae Palmer (8-0) and Koitka/Veltri (Default).

Coast will head to San Diego City College to take on the Knights on Tuesday, beginning at 2 p.m. to kick off a stretch of three matches on the road. OCC will return home on Tuesday, March 7 to take on Saddleback, also at 2 p.m.
