Falcons Down Contra Costa, 6-2

San Pablo, Calif. - Freshmen Dakota Marin and Shane-Nicole Sheppard combined for four goals in the Solano women's soccer 6-2 win at Contra Costa on Tuesday afternoon.

Marin opened up the scoring in the ninth minute off an assist from freshman Kayla Herman before Contra Costa equalized the match in the 14th minute. Herman put the Falcons back on top in the 17th minute in her lone goal of the match on a feed from freshman Amber Morales.

Herman tallied her second assist of the match on Sheppard's first goal in the 43rd minute to close out the first half. Marin earned her second goal in the 52nd minute before chalking up an assist in the 70th minute on Sheppard's second goal. Morales rounded out the scoring in the 88th minute on a free kick.

All three freshmen keepers earned playing time with Fatima Guzman playing the first 30 minutes, followed by Bailey Erbland for 35 minutes, and Jessica Biasotti wrapped things up for the last 25 minutes.

Solano (4-5, 3-1) returns home to host Yuba on Friday, Oct. 8. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m.
