Beavers Can't Hold Late Lead, Fall to Feather River

BEAVERS CAN’T HOLD LATE LEAD, FALL TO FEATHER RIVER

American River College finally got a quality start on the mound but it wasn’t enough as some defensive miscues turned a 3-2 lead in the 6th inning to a 10-3 defeat on Friday.  Quintanilla (Summit Shasta) easily had the best start of the season for the team, going 6 innings allowing just 2 runs to the Golden Eagles.  With the Beavers down a run in the first, sophomore RF Josiah Taylor (Alpha Charter) tripled to lead off the bottom of the first and sophomore 3B Blake Yuyama (Kennedy) hit a sac fly to dead center that almost cleared the fence.  The Beavers tacked on a pair of runs in the 4th after sophomore C Kristoff Swanson (Del Oro) led off with a double and freshman CF Wyatt Winalski (San Juan) reached on an error.  Swanson would score on a fielders choice by freshman LF Trevor Crockett (Del Campo) and Winalski on a double steal.

Feather River tied the game in the 7th, then scored 4 runs on just two hits in the 8th, as A.R.C. committed three errors in the inning.  Feather River tacked on another three runs in the 9th to put the game out of reach.
