(San Diego, CA) The Mt. SAC Beach Volleyball team traveled South to San Diego on Wednesday (March 30) for three matches and finished 1-2 on the day.

San Diego Mesa College was the host for the three matches, as Mt. San Jacinto and Grossmont also competing in the non-conference event.

Mt. SAC opened with a 4-1 win over Mt. San Jacinto and dropped the next two matches to host SD Mesa (4-1) and Grossmont (5-0).

Against MSJC, three Mt. SAC pairs won in straight sets – 1's - Allison Whiteman/Riley DeGroot (21-11, 21-14), 3's - Savanna Corrales/Alicia Patterson (21-14, 21-4) and the 5's – Kylie Rhodes/Victoria Arnold (23-21, 21-2.

The fourth pairs to win were the 4's (Riannel Arevalo/Bristol Christelman) with a three-set victory, 18-21, 22-20, 15-9.

The 2's (JJ Quarrels/Diana Pelcastre) lost in three sets – 13-21, 21-17, 15-8.

In the loss to Mesa, the 1's (DeGroot/Whiteman) were the only pair to come out with a victory, 24-22, 22-20.

In the 3-2 loss to Grossmont, the 3's (Corrales/Patterson) and the 4's (Arevalo/Christelman) came out victorious with straight-set wins. The 1's (Whiteman/DeGroot) and 2's (Quarrels/Pelcastre) both lost in straight sets, but the 5's (Rhodes/Arnold) lost a close third set.

The Mounties get back into South Coast Conference action on Friday (April 8) at El Camino.
