Eagle Baseball Runs Win Streak to Six

The MSJC baseball team continued their hot start to the season last week as the picked up four wins.

The Eagles offense has continued to produce as MSJC defeated Compton 11-9, Imperial Valley 29-10, Citrus 7-5, and Taft 14-1 to improve their record so far this season to an impressive 10-1.

Last Saturday in Compton MSJC raced out to an 11-3 lead, before having to hold on down the stretch for the victory.  Garrett Teunissen had a homerun and 4 RBIs to lead the offense, Greg Luna picked up three hits including a double.  Nolan LaChappa was the winning pitcher and Trysten Eddy earned the save.

On Tuesday at Imperial Valley the bats were on fire as the Eagles pounded out 20 hits and scored 29 runs in just five innings.  Teunissen again left the yard with a homer, while Will Potter and DJ Graham also hit round trippers for MSJC.  Potter finished the game with a career high 7 RBIs while hitting for the cycle as he also had a single, double, and triple to go along with his homerun.  Luis Acevdo earned the pitching win.

Thursday it was the Eagles who needed to come from behind ans they trailed 5-3 after 5 innings at Citrus.  A run in the top of the sixth and 3 in the top of the 7th though gave MSJC another win.  Christian Smith hit a pair of homeruns in the game and Luna's two run homer in the 7th gave MSJC the lead.  Teunissen and Alec Bressler both also added RBIs.  Pierce Sailor was the winning pitcher and Brock Robarts earned a save for the Eagles.

Yesterday MSJC dominated the game as they won at home over Taft 14-1.

MSJC will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Antelope Valley.
