Mt. SAC Softball shuts out ELAC, 10-0, in five innings

(Walnut, CA) After a 16-day break because of the Southern California rains, the Mt. SAC Softball team exploded for 12 hits and 10 runs in a five-inning, eight-run rule 10-0 win over visiting East L.A. College Tuesday (March 7) in a South Coast Conference game.

With the win, the state No. 4 Mounties improved to 9-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Leading the way in the win was sophomore Brianna Goris (2 for 2, 3 Rs) with two home runs and four RBIs.

In the circle for the Mounties, was a five-inning, 3-hit performance by freshman pitcher Aleyna Urbina for her seventh win with no losses. She also had five strikeouts.

Desiree Bravo (2-3, 2 Rs) and Olivia Ortiz (2-2, R, 3 RBIs, Dbl.) led the Mounties with two hits each.

Ortiz highlighted the four-run first inning with a two-run single to left.

That was followed by the three-run second inning, highlighted by Goris' two-run home run and a double by Ortiz that scored Bravo for the seventh run.

The Mounties added three more runs in the fourth, which was highlighted by Goris' second homer of the game.
