Sutter’s 3-Run Home Run Helps Falcons Defeat Wolverines

Folsom, CA – Desperate for a win against conference rivals, Sierra College (14-7, 4-5), the Falcons scored 10 runs on 8 hits and were able to avoid the series sweep as the Wolverines were only able score 7 runs on 9 hits.

After a quiet first two innings, the Falcons assembled an 8-run rally in the third inning which was started off by a three-run home run by Logan Sutter to take the lead for the Falcons at 3-2. The Winning run came later in the inning off an RBI-double by Drake Digiorno to make the score 8-2. The Wolverines continued to fight and made it a close game in the top of the seventh when they came within one run of the Falcons (8-7), but second baseman, Oscar Navarez gave the Falcons some breathing room by adding two insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh inning off a two-RBI double for a final score of 10-7.

Andrew Neil got the start and the win for the Falcons as he pitched 5 innings allowing 2 earned runs, off 5 hits and struck out 7. Nate Brouse earned the save.
