The No. 16 Long Beach City College Vikings baseball team extended their winning-streak to 10 consecutive conference games with a 10-5 win over Compton College.

Starting pitcher Jake Habelitz (4-2) earned the win on the mound as he tossed five innings allowing seven hits, four runs, and struck out seven Tartars. Reliever Marcellus Henry (Sv. 4) tallied his fourth save with holding the Tartars to three hits, one run, while striking out four.

The Tartars got down to business by putting up two immediately on the board in the first inning. Center fielder Moises Guzman then responded with a 2 RBI home run bomb over center field to tie the game at twos.

The Vikings dominated in the second inning with seven runs and ended the inning with a 2 RBI triple from third baseman Justin Santoyo.

Compton pulled together three more runs, but designated hitter Ryan Guerero smashed a RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to bring in second baseman Kamau Neighbors and finalize the score at 10-5.

The Vikings will return to the field on Thursday, April 28 at Compton College for game two of the three-game series at 2:30 p.m.
