Citrus College exploded out in front in the first half and held on for a 93-68 victory over Glendale Community College on a historic night.

The Fighting Owls made history by winning the Western State Conference South Championship, their fourth-straight conference title. Citrus heads into the postseason boasting a 19-9 overall record and ends WSC action at 11-3. The Vaqueros finish the year 6-22, 1-13.

Five Owls finished the night in double-digit points, led by Toby Okwuokei's 21-point output (9-for-13). Kendal Frey chipped in 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, knocking down all three-point shots, while Leonard Turner (6-for-9) grabbed a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. James Williams (2-for-5) and Alex Cartwright (5-for-11) each contributed 10 points, with Cartwright also grabbing 11 rebounds.

The Owls crushed the glass, out-rebounding the Vaqueros 53-to-37.

Citrus opened the game on an 11-0 run before Glendale could stop the bleeding. Frey had back-to-back triples to open the game and assisted Tobin Kund to cap the run.

Halfway through the first, Okwuokei rattled in a three to more than double Glendale's points, putting Citrus up 27-13. He then stole the ball away and easily tapped in a layup, before grabbing another steal less than 10 seconds later. This time Okwuokei found Frey on the perimeter to create some separation for Citrus, 32-13.

The Owls kept rolling and built a 51-28 lead heading into the break as Frey knocked down a trey just before the buzzer sounded.

Glendale tried to rally back in the second half and scored just two less points than the Owls, but the hole was just too much to overcome.

Citrus now waits to see its fate and who it will face for the postseason.
