Porterville returns to conference play with losses at Fresno City

FRESNO – Porterville College couldn't get much going offensively against Central Valley Conference-leading Fresno City College and suffered a pair of losses in a road doubleheader on Tuesday. The Pirates dropped the opener 8-0 and fell 14-1 in Game 2, both in five innings.

PC totaled just six hits over both contests. Game 1 saw Ally Boyd got 2 for 2 with a pair of singles while Mo Mosely walked and stole two bases.

Cheyenne Ausborn had the Pirates' big hit in the second game as she smacked a solo home run in the top of the third inning. Hailee Smutz walked twice and went 1 for 1 with a single.

Porterville fell to 4-16 overall and 1-2 in conference play while Fresno improved to 20-3 and 6-0. The Pirates return to action next Tuesday (Mar. 22) when they host Merced College in a CVC doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m.
