TORRANCE, Calif. - El Camino College struggled offensively in a 6-0 shutout against Palomar College at Warrior Softball Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The Warriors (5-3) had three baserunners for the entire game with Mina Nakawake reaching base twice.

Catalina Aguilar shined for the Comets (8-2) as she only allowed two baserunners.  She pitched six shutout innings and allowed just one hit and one walk and struck out three batters.

Clarissa Chiquete was also great in the circle as she allowed two runs on six hits and one walk in six innings of work.

Palomar took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after three base hits.

After the first two innings, the starting pitchers combined for 12 straight outs in the third and fourth innings.

Palomar got the first two batters on board in the fifth inning but Chiquete was able to pitch out of the damage with both runners in scoring position.

The Comets added one more run in the sixth inning.  Rylee Penrod led the inning off with a double. Chiquete was able to get two outs and looked to have escaped the inning unharmed but a pinch-hitter for the Comets, Ayiana Hernandez hit a line drive to right field and the Warrior's right fielder lost the ball in the sun which continued the inning for Palomar and extended the lead to 2-0.

The wheels came off for the Warriors pitching and defense in the top of the seventh inning as Jamie Garvey came in to pitch.  Palomar added four runs on two hits, four walks, one hit batsman,m and two errors.

The Warriors will now head on a six game road-trip and will resume South Coast Conference play with tomorrow's game at East Los Angeles.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
