The No. 18 Long Beach City College Vikings finalized the three-game series sweep with an 8-1 victory on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Vikings improve to 16-5 in the South Coast Conference.

Freshman pitcher Evan Vazquez (6-3) earned the win on the hill with only allowing the Huskies to one run on three hits, while striking down nine in eight innings of work. Reliever Moises Guzman came in the final inning and held off the Huskies to only one hit, while striking out one.

The Huskies were first on the board in the top of the second and with an RBI single, but then the Vikings shut them out for the rest of the game.

Freshman second baseman Kamau Neighbors hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game in the bottom of the second and then came back in the fourth inning for his second sac fly. He finalized his at-bats with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.

Freshman third baseman Justin Santoyo was beat up by the Huskies with two hit by pitches, but was able to snap an RBI single in the fourth to extend the Vikings lead 3-1.

Freshman left fielder Bryan Sanders was the standout for the game as he went three-for-three at-bat with two RBIs. He hit an RBI single in the sixth inning and then had an RBI triple to center field in the seventh inning.

Guzman left a bad taste in the Huskies mouth as he blasted a two RBI homer in the seventh inning.

The Vikings finalized the 8-1 win after Sanders' RBI triple and will back in action on Tuesday, April 26 against Compton College at 2:30 p.m.
