COD (8-5; 3-0) collected a piece of first place early in Conference play, securing a hard-fought win over the Rio Hondo Roadrunners of Whitter (2-10; 1-2) and an easy win over the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville (0-3; 0-3).

The Roadrunners will play the rest of the 2022 season on the road, as they hosted five of their first seven match days at Palm Desert Civic Center Park.

The 1's team of freshman Kyrsti Photias (La Quinta H.S.) and sophomore Katie Geiberger-Tiegen (Palm Desert H.S.) won their match over their opponents from Rio Hondo in three, winning the first set 21-16, falling in the second set 21-18 and having to go extra in the third set, 24-22. With the win, the Photias/Geiberger-Tiegen pair moves to 4-0 on the season.

The 2's team of freshman Tyler Davis (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) and freshman Alexis Dempsey (Palm Springs H.S.) won their match over Rio Hondo in straight sets 21-14 and 21-18. With the win, the Dempsey/Davis pair moves to 7-1 on the season.

The 3's team of freshman Kaila Sandy (La Quinta H.S.) and sophomore Jomarie Viloria (Rancho Mirage H.S.) fell in straight sets to Rio Hondo, 21-12 and 21-18. With the loss, the Sandy/Viloria pair drops to 1-2 on the season.

The 4's team of freshman Emillie Griffith (Yucca Valley H.S.) and freshman Katie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) won their match in straight sets over Rio Hondo, 21-8 and 21-12. With the win, the Griffith/Alexander pair moves to 5-6 on the season.

The 5's team of freshman Caitlin Bilhartz (Bowling Green, MO) and freshman Angel Talos (Palm Desert H.S.) also won their match in straight sets over Rio Hondo, 21-11 and 21-6. With the win, the Bilhartz/Talos pair moves to  3-5 on the season.

In the match against the Victor Valley Rams, the Roadrunners swept each of their matches in straight sets.

College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will continue South Coast Conference (SCC) play by traveling to Walnut to face the Mt. San Antonio Mounties on Friday, March 25 at 9a.
